RENTAL TERMS
- Age Requirement
– Minimum Driver’s Age: 21
– Driver’s License: The driver must possess a valid license issued at least three years earlier.
– Insurance for Younger and Older Drivers: Drivers aged under 23 years need to purchase “New Driver’s Insurance” costing €9.00 per day. Drivers older than 73 years old have to purchase “Senior Citizen’s Insurance” which costs €25 for the entire rental period.
- Driver’s License
A valid driving license held for at least three years is required. Renters carrying a national driving license from an EU member state and other specified countries do not require an International Driving Permit. A valid International Driving Permit is required for all other countries along with the national driving license. Renters should check if local authorities require an International Driving Permit to avoid fines. Here are the specifics:
– EU Member States: Renters carrying a national driving license from an EU member state (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden) and from Switzerland, United Kingdom, U.S.A., Canada, Australia, Gibraltar, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein do not require an International Driving Permit.
– Other Countries with Latin Characters: All National Driving Licenses with Latin Characters issued by the following countries are accepted in Greece: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bahrain, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Brazil, Central African Republic, Chile, Congo, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, North Macedonia, Georgia, Ghana, Guyana, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Ivory Coast, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Mexico, Moldova, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Nigeria, Northern Ireland, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Seychelles, South Africa, South Korea, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe.
– Countries without International Driving Permit Issued:** Renters carrying a valid national driving license that has been issued by a state in which no international driving license is issued (i.e., China) do require a certified translation in English or in Greek.
– All Other Countries: A valid International Driving Permit is required along with the national driving license. Renters are advised to check whether local authorities require foreign drivers to present an International Driving Permit to avoid the risk of potential fines.
- Fuel Policy
We operate a ‘Same Fuel Policy.’ This means the renter is required to return the vehicle with the same fuel level as when it was collected. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, a charge will be applied for the fuel deficit. Please note, refunds are not given for vehicles returned with more fuel than upon collection.
- Extra Driver
- The main driver, typically the person named on the rental agreement, is the insured individual responsible for the rental.
- Additional drivers must be present at the start of the rental with their driving licenses and must be added to the rental agreement.
– Only individuals listed on the rental agreement as additional drivers are legally allowed to drive the rental car. If an unlisted driver is involved in an accident or damages the vehicle, insurance coverage may not apply, and the renter may be held responsible.
- Vehicle Pickup
When collecting the rental vehicle, the renter must ensure the following:
- Applicable Statutory License: A currently valid driver’s license meeting the age requirements for the chosen vehicle category, held for a minimum of three years.
- Credit Card: A credit card available for necessary transactions and security purposes.
- Identification Card: A valid identification card for verification during the pickup process.
- Insurance
6.1. Collision Damage Waiver (C.D.W.) or Basic Coverage:
Included in our standard package, C.D.W. provides essential coverage for your rental. This insurance includes third-party insurance (TPI) and covers damages to the rented vehicle with varying excess amounts based on the car model and category:
– Small cars: Up to €900
– Medium cars: Up to €1,200
– Big cars: Up to €1,400
– SUVs and 4x4s: Up to €1,600 (VAT not included)
Note: C.D.W. does not cover loss or breakage of keys, tires, wheels, undercarriage, windscreens, mirrors, lights, or the car’s interior. The renter is responsible for the liability/excess amount specific to the car group. C.D.W. is effective if damages are not due to the violation of Greek Traffic Code.
6.2. Advanced Coverage:
This plan provides more comprehensive accident coverage and lower deductibles, along with 24-hour roadside assistance. It reduces the renter’s liability/excess amount to less than half of the standard C.D.W. coverage.
6.3. Full Damage Waiver (F.D.W) or Complete Coverage:
Designed to provide enhanced protection, this comprehensive coverage includes:
– Protection for the vehicle’s body against damages.
– Waived excess, excluding glass, tires, mirrors, interior, and underbody.
– Coverage for additional drivers and passengers with Personal Accident Insurance (P.A.I.).
– The cost of this package varies depending on the vehicle category. No insurance is valid when driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, speeding, or against Greek traffic laws.
6.4. Insurance Coverage and Exceptions:
Our vehicles are provided with comprehensive insurance coverage including:
– Third-Party Coverage: Up to €500,000 per victim for death and injury.
– Property Damage to Third Parties: Up to €100,000.
– Fire and Car Theft Coverage.
– These contracts apply exclusively to Kefalonia and Ithaca.
Exceptions:
Insurance terms become void, and the renter assumes responsibility for damages in the following scenarios:
– Intentional or negligent damage.
– Using the wrong fuel.
– Damage to undercarriage, roof, mirrors, wheels, and tires.
– Unauthorized boat transportation.
– Violation of Greek Traffic Code.
– Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
