Anyone can hire a car between 21 and 75 years old, that holds a valid drivers license of at least three years.
You can rent a car with Joyride Car Rentals, if you are over 21 years old for groups A, B and at least 25 years old for all other groups of cars.
If you do not have a European driving license, or your driving license is not in English, you need an International Driving Permit (IDP), this does not apply for English citizens.

For every car rental you need a passport or identity card (for EU citizens), Driving License (international driving permit for non-EU citizens, does not apply for British citizens) and a credit card.
Only persons listed as drivers on the hire contract can drive the car. If you are not named on the hire contract as an additional driver you cannot drive the car and insurance will not be valid
You can add an additional driver when you book online or upon the rental agreement at pick up time. Both the primary driver and the additional driver must be present to officially sign the rental agreement. The fee for the additional driver is 15Euro for the whole rental period.
It is not allowed to leave the island or to cross the Greek borders with our vehicles. Individual planning needs the advance authorization of our company if renter is wishing to ferry the car from the island of Kefalonia.
Ithaca belongs to the municipality of Kefalonia and is generally allowed. Please NOTE that the renter is responsible to return the car back to Kefalonia at its own cost. In case of an unfortunate event we can’t provide any assistance except on the island of Kefalonia.
There are many sites on the internet offering cheap rentals, however very few of these are licensed, reliable and recommended. Pets are generally allowed to ride in the vehicles, if renters are responsible for any damage caused by the pet to avoid cleaning charges. Vehicles should be returned clean and free of pet hair in order to avoid additional cleaning charges
PICK UP & DROP OFF
Our offices are open until late. Out of hours collections and delivery are usually possible but are on request. Please note that some hire companies may charge a supplement for this service. We DONT. You’ll find all the information you need in the conditions before booking and again on your rental voucher. It’s important that you give us your flight number when booking because this means that our staff will be aware of any flight delays and will wait for you.
Yes, one-way rentals are available. Please make sure you specify the pick up and drop off points when booking.
To avoid any additional cost, you should return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel as originally provided. Additional fuel cannot be refunded
We will meet and greet you upon arrival as soon you exit the airport, look for your name
YES! We can deliver your car wherever you like. Please contact us for delivery to your accommodation.
For advance booking we recommend pickup and return upon arrival at the airport/port in order to avoid additional transfer or taxi costs.
If you book your car at the Airport you will be asked to fill in your flight nr. In that way we can keep track of your flight and deliver your car as soon you exit the airport, no additional charges will apply.
There is generally a grace period but you need to inform about delay of your flight or running late for pickup/return of your car. Renter must return the vehicle due date, time and location specified when you booked the reservation. If you return the car later you may be charged a late return fee.
EXCESS AND COVERAGE
C.D.W. is the insurance we always include in our basic price. Collision Damage Waiver includes a third party insurance (TPI) with an excess for own damages. This excess is depending on model and car category up to 700 euro for small cars, up to 900 euro for medium cars and up to1300 euro for cabriolet/4×4 and special vehicles (VAT not included)
However, C.D.W. insurance does not cover damages to the vehicle if they have been caused by negligence, on non-asphalted roads, by any violation of the Greek Traffic Law, also for damages of tyres, rims, undercarriage or interior of the vehicle will be paid by the renter. Furthermore, keys, canvas roofs and wheel covers and other accessories are not covered by C.D.W. insurance.
Optionally, we offer the following extra insurance plan
FULL C.D.W. INSURANCE (Full C.D.W.): covers the vehicle for damages to the cars body.
It also covers additional drivers and passengers with P.A.I. With this package the excess is waved excluding glass, tyres, mirrors, interior and underbody.

NO insurance is valid when driving under alcohol or drug influence, speeding or against the Greek traffic Law.

We provide a Free Replacement Car in case of breakdown.
Tickets and attached administrative sanctions, resulting from any form of violation of the Greek Traffic Law during rental period are carried solely by the renter. Joyride Administrative will be informed by Police so please give us a heads up so we can help you.

Our website is connected to the Viva payment gateway, which accepts all major bank cards (credit, debit and prepaid cards). The card holder doesn’t have to be the driver of the car, but has to be present during the car pick-up.

With us you can book online you rental car in Kefalonia and pay on arrival.
In most cases, you are not required to pay for your rental car until you pick it up. Bear in mind this means that the driver of the car must have a credit card in his or her name and must present that card to the rental agency prior to driving off with the car.
In case you choose advance payment with online booking you can take advantage of several discounts at the time of your booking.
There is No Security Deposit needed for your rental. However a credit card is mandatory for your car rental to cover the excess amount of your car. For exceptional situations that you don’t own a credit card the excess amount need to be covered by cash upon arrival.
The total cost of the rental amount needs to be paid at the beginning of your rental. The credit card is for security to the car rental for a certain amount according to car category, (if not deducted by FDW Insurance with no excess) otherwise no amount is blocked or deposit is booked for your rental, if usual conditions apply.
The security of your payment information is very important to us. All payments made using the card are processed through the electronic payment platform of “Alpha e-Commerce” of Alpha Bank and uses TLS 1.1 encryption protocol encryption with 128-bit (Secure Sockets Layer – SSL). Encryption is a way of coding the information until it reaches its recipient , who will be able to decode it using the appropriate key. For more information please contact your bank.
Yes, car rental payment can be made by cash, when choosing payment upon arrival. You need to inform us after making your reservation if you choose card payment or cash upon arrival.
No. The person paying for the vehicle must be a named driver on the contract and must be present in the local office when the vehicle is collected. This allows us to avoid fraud.

By booking online with advance payment you take advantage of savings Special Offers and guaranteed availability. Please note that instant booking rates differ to advance online reservations.
All bookings and reservations are made by car Group and not by car model. Its likely to get the car of your actual booking, in exceptional cases “Joyride” reserves the right to change car model to an equivalent or an upgraded model according to availability.
Minimum rental period is 1 day, depending on Season. For instant booking for under 3days you should contact the office in time directly through call or WhatsApp
Maximum rental period is 30 days. If you require the vehicle for longer than this then please contact us.
Upon successful completion of your reservation, you will receive a confirmation email on the address you provided during your reservation

By cancelling your booking 14 days in advance you have made sure that you will not be charged a No-Show fee which can be up to 40% of your total cost of rental over high season but not less than 50€ for any other period (plus cancellation/administration charges).
Your refund will be made to the payment card used to make the booking.
